Berkeley is a city in Northern California, United States, located on the east shore of San Francisco Bay. The cities of Oakland and Emeryville are their southern neighbors. The city of Albany and the unincorporated town of Kensington are to the north. The eastern municipal borders are parallel to the county boundary (which runs across Contra Costa County), which follows the ridgeline of the Berkeley Hills. Berkeley lies in the northern part of Alameda County.

Berkeley is home to the University of California, Berkeley, the University of California system’s oldest campus, as well as the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Lawrence Hall of Science, Space Sciences Laboratory, and Mathematical Sciences Research Institute. The city is known for being one of the most politically liberal in the country, with one survey ranking it as the country’s third most liberal city.

Such a lovely establishment. I appreciate the Ecology Center and all the other programs they manage around Berkeley. Buliding a strong community is the goal! Green friendly and educational place to visit.

This is not a place to spend any time at. Renters live there and there’s nothing to see there unless you want to look at plants through a chain link fence.

One of the best most unique parks I’ve ever been to. Good for ages 4-10 with the zipline for 6+. I would recommend making reservations online since the walk-up system means a lot of waiting. If you reserve online make sure to come a few minutes early because if you are late by even a few minutes you will lose your spot.

been coming here since i was a kid which was 30 years ago! this is not a park for people who helicopter their kids and wrap them in cotton. this is an old school style of play where you get dirty and scrub your knees. bring some recyclables to get in and build your own park.

Always a must stop in our tour for friends from out of town with kids in tow. Great space for free range fun. Hard to get the boys out once they are in. The zip line is a favorite. Free parking is often available. All around winner.

One of Berkeley’s iconic parks nestled in the hills right across the way from the rose garden. Has one traditional big slide as well as a long cardboard slide for extra fun. It’s lovely to explore and has a lot of nestled hiking paths surrounding the playground.

Perfect place for kids and adults! There is a short trail for sightseeing or relax. Two playgrounds for kids, one is for little ones, the other is for elder kids. The kid really loves the concrete slide! Several picnic areas, big grassland, basketball courts, tennis courts, you name it. Besides, there’s a rose garden for a visit through the tunnel. The restroom of the rose garden side is quite clean with washing facilities, while the slide side without the washing facilities.

Slide is fun, made of cement, so be careful. The rest of the park is average, nothing stood out. Mostly just enjoyed the area and space to see people.

Great park with beautiful views. Plenty of walkways and trails to navigate and nice hills to climb for better views. Also very spacious so you could find a private to semiprivate area to picnic or just lounge.

It’s a great spot for kite flying but also for walks and picnics. There is a mobile kite shop that is usually there in case you don’t have or didn’t get your own kite. There is also a nice marina near by and good joints in the vicinity for seafood.

PLACE: beautiful view of the bay and San Francisco, with bonus sight of the Golden Bridge! Also perfect place to bring you kite as the wind never stops (but it is very strong, so be extra careful).
INFRA: many places to park and could see one public restroom. There are tracks to hike and run. Not sure about sailing or do some other water sports.

We had fun! Wish I would have known we can bring our own veggies to feed the animals. A couple people were nice enough to share a couple so my kiddos at least got to try. They had chickens, geese, cows, bunnies, sheep, and rams. They also have a short little walk through museum. We will definitely bring some carrots, celery and lettuce next time. It’s too cute seeing the kids feed them!

Fun and free. Little ones like bit my older ones also enjoy feeding animals. You bring your own romaine or celery. Celery is good for timid little ones as it is stiff. Cows are neat to feed. There are bunnies to pet too. Lots of wild turkeys. Nice family outing. 1 hour is usually enough. Bring more lettuce or celery than you think you need as it goes fast.

Visited this park recently. Tidy small part with multiple hiking trails. Not crowded on a Saturday which was somewhat of a surprise.
Parking was easy and we took a few hiking trails. Noticed deer in the brush.
Good place to take children 10 and under as hiking trails are shorter and there are multiple shelters for domestic animals – cows, ducks, lamb, chicken etc. who can be fed

This is a cool little park, similar to Indian Rock and Mortar a little ways down he hill, I didn’t see anywhere for bouldering, but if that’s not your aim, it’s way less crowded. It was so quiet there were three deer hanging out, laying in the back. The view over the Bay is excellent, unobstructed other than a few big coniferous trees. There’s parking around, maybe not right in front, and there’s no lot, but on one of the warren of streets in the neighborhood. It’s pretty exposed, not much shade other than on the little path, and in one corner.

Hidden gem in the Berkeley hills. Very expansive rock outcropping, great for scrambling over. Nice benches built into the rock here and there. Could be a bit cleaner. Fantastic views.

The Bay Trail (walking or biking) goes along the Bay, past the soccer fields and up past the horse racing track to another coastal park, beach. The Pihuamo taco truck is parked here, and has fantastic tasting Mexican food. I must stop, authentic.

This would be a fantastic place but for being flanked by train tracks on one side and the freeway on the other. There is constant buzz from traffic on the freeway a d the occasional passing train. Otherwise the scenery is fantastic with shade provided by 100s years old trees. Very nice for a walk or quick lunch. If you prefer serenity then you are better off at nearby emyrville marina park
